Turn Military Experience Into Your Next Career.

Your military experience counts for more out here than you might think.

Bridging the Gap

The hard part is the translation — we do that every day.

The hard part usually isn’t what you bring — it’s translating it. Employers don’t always see how a military role maps to their opening. SkillBridge exists to close that gap: in up to your last 180 days of service, you train with a civilian employer, learn the job hands-on, and walk into civilian life with experience instead of just a resume.

Here’s how the journey typically works with us:

Your Journey

Your journey, step by step

  1. Review available SkillBridge opportunities and identify career fields, employers, locations, and training pathways. Programs may include on-the-job training, employment skills training, internships, pre-apprenticeships, and apprenticeships

  2. Submit information for an opportunity that interests you. Recruiters review experience and alignment. Do not assume a military title has to match the civilian job title.

  3. When appropriate, a HYRE HARPER recruiter conducts a preliminary conversation, including candidate qualification and prescreen interviews.

  4. Qualified candidates may be presented to the participating employer for consideration. HYRE HARPER coordinates the presentation. The employer makes its own interview and selection decisions. HYRE HARPER supports the process but does not make the employer's hiring decision.

  5. At any stage, talk to a recruiter →
  6. Employer interest and SkillBridge authorization are separate decisions. SkillBridge participation is voluntary and service-member initiated. And participation requires the appropriate military authorization.

  7. Once the applicable employer selection and military/program requirements are satisfied, you may begin. Depending on the approved program, the experience can provide hands-on work, employment-skills development, and related training.

  8. Civilian career

SkillBridge is intended to support the transition into civilian employment. Participation, however, does NOT guarantee employment. The employer retains authority over interviews, offers, employment terms, and ultimate employment decisions.

Not sure which direction fits? Browse the fields below. Each one shows how military experience translates and what a SkillBridge opportunity there can look like. Have a role in mind that isn’t listed? Talk to us — we’ll help you figure out where it fits.

Hospitality & Service

Pathways: operations, sales, guest services, property leadership, maintenance, and other hospitality career pathways.

Lodging and hotel careers extend well beyond traditional guest-facing roles. SkillBridge connects military-developed capabilities with lodging and hotel opportunities, through HYRE HARPER’s combined understanding of talent acquisition, workforce development, and hospitality operations — creating an intentional connection between what the service member brings and the employer’s needs.

Customer-facing roles are a natural place to translate service experience into civilian work: client service, account management, customer support, and guest experience.

Healthcare & Health Information

Pathways: healthcare administration, health information, medical-support, and related professional career pathways.

Healthcare is where HYRE HARPER started. Military medical experience — corpsmen, medics, medical support, health administration — translates directly into one of the country’s most in-demand civilian workforces. We know this industry from the inside, and we know how to translate what you did in uniform into healthcare administration, health information, medical-support, and related professional roles. If you served in a medical or health-support role, you may already be closer to a civilian healthcare career than you think.

Professional & Business Services

Pathways: business development, recruiting, talent acquisition, administrative operations, project support, and related professional pathways.

A particularly strong environment for translating transitioning service members’ experience. HYRE HARPER brings together professional-services expertise, talent-acquisition capabilities, workforce-development experience, and an understanding of military organizational structures and occupational specialization. When appropriately aligned, SkillBridge can therefore serve both its developmental purpose for the service member and provide organizations with access to individuals whose existing capabilities can make meaningful contributions to projects, programs, processes, and organizational performance.

Logistics & Supply Chain

Pathways: logistics, transportation coordination, warehouse operations, supply-chain support, and related operational pathways.

Military operations run on logistics — supply, transport, coordination, warehouse operations. That experience moves directly into civilian supply-chain roles, where mission-driven planning and execution are exactly what employers are hiring for. SkillBridge logistics pathways include transportation coordination, warehouse operations, supply-chain support, and related operational roles.

Sales & Business Development

Pathways: customer development, account management, inside/outside sales, market development, and commercial roles.

A particularly strong area for SkillBridge. Participants gain exposure to the entire business-development lifecycle — identifying opportunities, building relationships, developing proposals, and supporting delivery — building commercial awareness, customer orientation, business judgment, and professional capabilities.

Operations & Leadership

Pathways: Operations management, project coordination, workforce operations, supervisory development, and leadership pathways.

A core area of expertise for HYRE HARPER Co., reflecting the founder’s background in operations and project management. HYRE HARPER approaches SkillBridge in operations by aligning military operational experience with civilian operational roles and organizational needs. As a company founded by a military veteran, HYRE HARPER connects military leadership development and experience with client needs.

Talent Acquisition & Workforce Development

Pathways: recruiting, candidate engagement, talent operations, workforce development, and related functions.

A core area of experience within HYRE HARPER Co. — talent acquisition is part of its own operating model, not only a service it offers clients. At its core, SkillBridge is centered on training, professional development, and preparing service members for civilian employment. HYRE HARPER takes a holistic approach, recognizing that transition is more than a single placement.
